Brookhaven Termite & Pest Control
Brookhaven became DeKalb County's eleventh city in December 2012, but the houses are older than the city. Much of it is mid-century ranches on generous lots, and a lot of those are being torn down and rebuilt.

A neighbourhood in the middle of being rebuilt
Brookhaven's housing runs from the early twentieth-century houses of Historic Brookhaven to the 1960s and 1970s ranches that fill most streets, and increasingly to large new houses built where those ranches stood. Each of those needs a different termite conversation. The ranch on its original crawlspace or basement has a long history; the new house has a pre-construction treatment and a contract period; the house in between, renovated with an addition, may have one part treated and another not.
Buying a ranch to renovate
If you are buying an older Brookhaven house to renovate, the Georgia termite letter from the sale is a starting point, not a clean bill of health. It covers only what was accessible, and finished basements and paneled walls hide a lot. Plan an inspection once demolition opens the walls, before new framing and drywall go in, and ask whether the existing bond can be transferred and will still apply after the work.
Creeks, the park and mosquitoes
Nancy Creek and its tributaries run through the city, and Murphey Candler Park with its lake sits in the north. Shady, damp backyards near those give mosquitoes and the big outdoor roaches plenty of cover. Container breeding in your own yard still matters more than the creek: the Asian tiger mosquito rarely flies more than about a hundred yards from where it hatched.
Fire ants on new sod
Fresh sod and disturbed soil around new construction are where fire ants move in fast. Baiting the whole lawn in spring and fall, then treating the mounds that remain, is the method UGA recommends. Treating only the mounds you can see tends to move them around the yard.

Brookhaven questions
Does Brookhaven have its own pest rules?
Pest control licensing is statewide, through the Georgia Department of Agriculture. For anything involving tree removal or construction, check with the City of Brookhaven, since rules vary by city.
Our teardown replacement is three years old. Do we need a termite bond?
You may already have one from the pre-construction treatment. Find out when it ends and what renewal costs before it lapses.
We are adding on to a ranch. Does the addition need treating?
Usually yes. New slab or foundation work next to an older treated house leaves an untreated zone unless it is treated before or right after it is built. Tell your existing termite company before work starts.
Is Brookhaven covered?
Yes, including 30319 and the Brookhaven side of 30329. Give your ZIP when you call.
Who does the work?
The licensed local company your request is passed to inspects, quotes and writes the termite contract. This site, an advertising and referral service of Pinecrest Advisory Services, LLC, does none of that.
